Patrik Amsterdam was born in Durban, South-Africa in 1966, as Patrik Noomé. He studied theatre design and film at the University of the Witwatersrand in Johannesburg. Before leaving for the Netherlands in 1990, he worked successfully as a theatre designer.

Since then he has lived and worked (mostly) in Amsterdam. Besides set design, Patrik's talents include sculpting, scenic and visual painting as well as illustrating and storyboarding. Since october 2001, Patrik worked for 7 years as a model builder for Rovorm. He now manages model research at UNstudio.

His 'free' work (as the Dutch describe self inspired work) has been exhibited in Johannesburg [RSA] Los Angeles [USA] Amsterdam, Alkmaar, Nijmegen and Roermond.[NL]
